The Missouri volleyball team is partnering with the Central Missouri Food Bank to host "Food for Fun." On Wednesday, the Tigers will be collecting nonperishable food items at their match against Colorado which will start at 7 p.m. at the Hearnes Center. Those who donate to the food drive will get a ticket to Wednesday night's match for only $2.
The "Food for Fun" food drive is part of "Make a Difference Day" which is Saturday, Oct. 25. The Tigers are getting a jump on the activities with Wednesday's food drive.
"Our team has always found ways to get involved in the community and this is another way for us to do that," Missouri head coach Susan Kreklow said. "We are excited to be working with the Central Missouri Food Bank on this and we are excited about the opportunity to be part of "Make a Difference Day" here in Columbia. We hope that people come out and support this cause and also take the opportunity to catch our team in action against Colorado."
In addition to this week's food drive, the Mizzou volleyball team participates in several other activities within the community. Last year the Mizzou volleyball team was awarded the Life Skills Excellence Award for Community Service.
The Tigers enter Wednesday's match against Colorado with a 14-4 record and are 7-2 in the Big 12 Conference. Mizzou is coming off a big win over No. 8 Nebraska last Wednesday. That win was the first win for MU over the Huskers since 1982 and was the first win in Lincoln since 1977. Colorado is 13-6 on the season and 5-4 in the Big 12.
Wednesday night match will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hearnes Center. The food items will be collected at the doors prior to the match.
