Dallas, Texas - The University of Missouri's Homecoming football game on Oct. 25th against Texas Tech has been selected for television, as announced by the Big 12 Conference. Due to provisions in the Big 12 television contract, game time will not be determined until Sunday, however, as ABC has invoked the second of its three six-day options available to them as part of the Big 12 television contract.
This means that MU's game against the high-flying Red Raider attack is being considered for each of the three slots: 11:30 a.m. on Fox Sports Net, 2:30 on ABC and 6 p.m. on TBS Superstation.
"We understand that Homecoming is a special weekend for many of our alumni and fans," said MU Director of Athletics Mike Alden. "We're certainly very pleased that the game has been selected for television, and hope that our fans can be flexible in this instance. We will alert everyone as early as we can on Sunday, and we look forward to continuing the nation's finest Homecoming festivities," he said.
The Texas Tech game will mark the fourth consecutive televised game for Mizzou this season, and the fifth overall. Mizzou opened the 2003 season on ABC against Illinois (Aug. 30), and followed with appearances on Fox at Kansas (Sept. 27), and on TBS against Nebraska (Oct. 11). This Saturday's game at top-ranked Oklahoma will be on Fox Sports Net at 6 p.m., to be followed by the fourth-straight TV appearance on Oct. 25th when Texas Tech comes calling.
MU is now guaranteed a minimum of six TV games this season, as the Nov. 29th regular-season finale against Iowa State is already set for an ABC telecast at Noon.
The six TV appearances will surpass the four appearances MU made last season during 2002, when MU was shown twice each on ABC and Fox. In only one other season has MU made more TV appearances than six: 1984 (seven appearances).
