Missouri Opens Three-Week Home Stand

Mizzou Opens Home Stand
The Mizzou soccer team welcomes a three-week home stand hosting #17 California and #24 Oklahoma to Columbia, Mo. The Tiger face the Bruins on Fri., Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m., before resuming Big 12 Conference play against Oklahoma on Sun., Oct. 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Keeping up with the action, Missouri is scheduled to bring Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas to Audrey J. Walton Stadium in the following weeks.

Scouting #17 California
The Bruins are 4-1-3 on the year taking on three ranked opponents. California tied #19 ranked Santa Clara (0-0) and #21 Princeton (1-1) and suffered a loss to #10 Wake Forest (1-2).

California has a widespread scoring capability with eight athletes putting in goals for the Bruins. Kassie Doubrava and Liz Eisenberg lead the team with two goals apiece.

Sharing time in the goalbox, Ashley Sulprizio and Anna Key have each played four games. Sulprizio is 2-0-2 on the year making 19 saves, allowing two goals to own a 0.45 goals against average. Key is 2-1-1 making 15 saves, allowing three goals to own a 0.71 GAA.

California owns the MU-Cal series 1-0. In their last meeting, the Bruins defeated the Tigers 2-1 in overtime at the Wake Forest Invitational in 2000.

Scouting #24 Oklahoma
The Sooners made their way into the national rankings this week toting a 6-3-1 record with a 1-1 mark in the Big 12 Conference. Opening league play, Oklahoma defeated Texas 2-1.

Lauren MacIver leads the Sooners offensively with four goals and four assists (12 points). Following closely, senior Logan Womac owns four goals and two assists on the year for 10 points.

In the box, Catherine Wade has played in all 10 of Oklahoma's games to own a 6-3-1 record. She has made 63 saves, allowed 15 goals and owns a 1.52 goals against average. She has two shutout victories on the year against Tulsa (2-0) and ORU (2-0).

Missouri leads the MU-OU series 4-2. The Tigers have fallen to the Sooners in their last two outings. Oklahoma defeated Mizzou 2-0 last year and 2-1 in 2001.

Missouri joins the fray toting a 5-5-0 record and an 0-2 Big 12 Conference mark. Battling a range of injuries that have sidelined five of Mizzou's starters at various points during the season, The Tigers have lost their last three consecutive games to ranked opponents in #5 Florida (4-0), #17 Colorado (3-2) and #21 Nebraska (3-1).

Facing #12 California and #21 Oklahoma sets a Missouri record for consecutive games played against ranked opponents.
