Missouri Wrestling Opens Season Against Oklahoma State

Columbia, Mo. - The eighth-ranked Missouri Wrestling team will open its season Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, by playing host to defending national champion Oklahoma State at Hazelwood Central High School in St. Louis. Tickets for the dual meet go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Hearnes Center ticket office and will also be available by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or 884-PAWS. A total of 3,000 tickets are available for $10 each plus a $5 handling charge.

"The team and coaching staff are really anxious to open the season against Oklahoma State," head coach Brian Smith said. "We're expecting a big Missouri turnout at the dual, which should make for an electric atmosphere."

The Tigers will host six home meets this season in the Hearnes Center, including the fourth annual Missouri Open on Sunday, Nov. 23. Between Dec. 28 and Jan. 18, Missouri will travel across the nation competing in several high profile tournaments including the Southern Scuffle (Dec. 28-29), Sun Devil Duals (Jan. 4) and the National Duals (Jan. 16-18). The Tigers will close their regular season at home on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, against Oklahoma before traveling to Ames, Iowa, for the Big 12 Championships.

MU will co-host the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships March 18-20, at the Savvis Center in St. Louis. Tickets in the Missouri section of the arena will be available for purchase by joining the Missouri Wrestling Takedown Club.
