Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri junior cross country runner Neville Miller (St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore soccer player Erica Pusch (St. Louis, Mo.) have been named the recipients of the Lathrop and Gage Student-Athlete of the Week Award for the week of September 22, 2003. The announcement was made by the University of Missouri Department of Athletics.
Miller is an atmospheric science major with a 3.58 GPA. In addition to his involvement with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Restoration Foundation, he also serves as a Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) representative and volunteers for that organization's food drive.
The junior has appeared in one race for the Tigers this season, at the Bradley Open. His finishing time of 26:42.42 was good enough to place him 60th out 184 competitors, and fourth overall among Tigers runners. In 2002, Miller earned Academic All-Big 12 first-team honors.
Pusch, a biological sciences major with a 3.13 GPA, is involved with the Truman Club Winter Social and the Columbia Twilight Festival. In addition to the service she provides those organizations, Pusch is also involved in the SAAC Food Drive.
The sophomore defender has started all eight games for the Tigers this season, logging two shots on goal. Pusch led the squad with an 86% shot on goal percentage and scored one goal as a freshman in '02.
