After opening the Big 12 Conference season with two wins last week, Mizzou continues league play by hosting Texas Tech on Wednesday...the Tigers defeated Baylor, 3-1, last Wednesday before picking up a three-game sweep of Oklahoma on Saturday...MU has now defeated OU seven consecutive times...Mizzou is 9-2 overall on the year...Texas Tech enters Wednesday's match with an 8-3 record and is 0-2 in the Big 12 under first-year head coach Nancy Todd...the Red Raiders fell to Colorado in four games last Wednesday, then lost to Kansas State, 3-0, on Saturday...Texas Tech holds an 11-4 lead in the all-time series with Mizzou, but the Tigers have won four of the last five outings.
Scouting the Red Raiders
Texas Tech enters the week with an 8-3 overall record and is looking for its first Big 12 Conference win after dropping its first two league matches last week. Colorado knocked off the Red Raiders 3-1 on Wednesday before Kansas State picked up a three-game sweep of TTU on Saturday. Kelly Johnson leads Texas Tech with a 5.80 kills per game average and a .282 hitting percentage. She has 556 total attacks heading into Wednesday. The next highest on the Red Raiders is Angela Mooney with 289. Johnson also has a 2.95 digs per game average. Nancy Todd is in her first year as the Tech head coach taking over for Jeff Nelson. Last year TTU finished 14-15 on the year and 9-11 in the Big 12. The Tigers and Red Raiders split the season series in 2002, with each team winning on its home court.
The MU-TTU Series
The Red Raiders hold an 11-4 lead in the all-time series with Mizzou. After Tech won the first 10 outings, Missouri has won four of the last five. Last season, Texas Tech picked up a 3-1 win in Lubbock before MU took a 3-0 win in the rematch in Columbia. All four of the Tigers' wins in the series have come in Columbia and MU Head Coach Susan Kreklow is 4-2 all-time against Tech.
A Look Back
Missouri moved to 2-0 in the Big 12 Conference with a 3-0 (30-21, 30-25, 31-29) win over Oklahoma in front of 1,432 fans in the Hearnes Center on Saturday. With the win, the Tigers have now won seven straight over the Sooners.
After winning the first two games of the match, Mizzou found itself trailing 25-22 in game three. However, MU went on a 9-4 run to close out the game and take the match victory.
Mary Lauren Smith led Mizzou with 12 kills, followed by Lisa Boyd with 11 and Lindsey Noll with nine. Nicole Wilson had career-high .857 hitting percentage, while Noll recorded a .643 mark. As a team, Missouri hit .377 and held OU to a .273 percentage.
Mizzou moved to 9-2 with the win and 2-0 in the Big 12 Conference, while Oklahoma fell to 8-7 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12.
Earlier in the week, MU picked up its first conference win with a 3-1 victory over Baylor in Waco, Texas. After dominating in the first two games of the match, the Tigers dropped the third game to Baylor then won the fourth and final game by a score of 33-31.
Shen Danru and Mary Lauren Smith led Mizzou with 21 kills each. Danru added 17 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.

Missouri will travel to College Station, Texas on Friday to take on Texas A&M at 7 p.m. The Tigers return to the Hearnes Center next Wednesday to face Kansas in a Boarder War battle starting at 7 p.m.
