Columbia, Mo.--The Mizzou women's tennis team picked up right where they left off last year, winning seven of nine matches in day one of the Mizzou 4-Way Tournament.
Senior Urska Juric led the way for the Tigers with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over Illinois State's Laura Gravino. Freshman Yelena Olshanskaya also put up big numbers beating Murray State's Tammy McQueen 6-0, 6-1.
"We had a few big wins, but we also found ourselves in some tight matches," MU Assistant Coach Cecily Dubusker said. "Good players find ways to win close matches, and we did that today. But we are definitely capable of playing better. We have a lot of work to do," she added.
Day two of the Mizzou 4-Way tournament continues all day Saturday and Sunday at the Green Tennis Center. Admission is free to the public.
