Junior Kenny Burleson has capped off a milestone 2003 season with two academic honors. The 157-pound Tiger wrestler was named to the Verizon Academic All-America/District VII At Large Second Team and was an National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Honorable Mention Academic All-American selection. His NWCA selection is the second consecutive year he has been honored.
The Neosho, Missouri native currently holds a 3.51 GPA in marketing. This past season Burleson earned his first NCAA Wrestling Championships appearance. He was the Big 12 Champion runner-up at 157-pounds. He compiled a record of 33-7, leading the team in overall wins for the second consecutive season. He also led the Big 12 in total wins and went 17-1 in dual meets. For his career, Burleson has a career record of 82-26 and a career dual record of 42-9. Academically he is a two-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 selection.
