Tiger Swimmers Named to Verizon Academic All-District VII Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. -

The 2003 Verizon Women's At-Large Academic All-District VII Team was announced today with two Tigers making the first team. Senior Tiffany Bohon and junior Molly Christensen represent the Tigers swimming team.

Bohon is a Columbia, Missouri native who currently holds a 3.75 GPA in biology/pre-med. She is a two-time NCAA provisional qualifier in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, including this past season. She finished third in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events at the 2003 Big 12 Championships. She holds the school record in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.99) and holds the school record as a member of both the 200 (1:42.54) and 400 (3:47.04) medley relay teams. Academically she is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and was a 2002 CSCAA honorable mention Academic All-American.

Christensen is a native of Woodbury, Minnesota and holds a GPA of 4.00 GPA in biology/pre-med as well. Her highlights from this past season include two top-five finishes in the 1,000 freestyle, including a career best 10:48.80 against Truman State. She had two top-five finishes in the 200 butterfly. She competed in four individual events at the Minnesota Invite, setting season's bests in three of the events. Academically she is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. This season she was one of only five 2003 Academic All-Big 12 recipients with a 4.00 GPA. She is one of three recipients on this years Verizon All-District team with a 4.00 GPA.

The 2003 Verizon Academic All-District Teams are voted upon by members of CoSIDA from each school's respected region. This year there were 63 candidates from District VII, representing 19 member institutions. The average GPA for the 10 members of the first team was 3.91.
