University of Missouri volleyball player Shen Danru has been chosen to participate in the 2003 NCAA Leadership Conference, to be held May 25-29 at Disney's Wide World of Sports and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Four student-athletes from Missouri were nominated to the conference and Danru was selected by the NCAA to attend. Over 300 student-athletes from around the world are expected at the conference.
The mission of the NCAA Leadership Conference is to "develop a diverse group of student-athletes who will actively participate in and experience a multitude of challenging and thought-provoking activities that will enable them to become change agents on their campuses and in their communities."
The conference will include presentations from several student-athletes, coaches and administrators from around the nation. Danru and the other participants will also attend discussions and activities that explores different leadership qualities.
Danru was a Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention selection as a redshirt freshman last season, helping the Tigers to a 26-8 record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She led Mizzou in digs last season and set a new MU record for most service aces in a year with 64.
