April 24, 2003

The Missouri Softball team has added two members to its 2003 recruiting class, as announced by Head Coach Ty Singleton on Thursday. Amanda Jo (A.J.) White and Holly Haines have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Mizzou, and will join seven other newcomers next season.

White is from Tallmadge, Ohio and has twice been named to the Honor Roll and twice to the Merit Roll at Tallmadge High School. She was a first-team Suburban League selection and a second team All -Ohio selection. She was also named to the Cleveland Plain Dealer first team, the Akron Beacon Journal first team and the Summit County All-Stars first team.

Along with softball, White also competed in track, volleyball, gymnastics, basketball and cheerleading. She chose Missouri over Florida State, Ohio University, South Carolina, Arkansas State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Haines is a first team NFCAA All-American selection from El Dorado High School in Wichita, Kan. She was also named to the all-conference and the all-district team in 2002. She will transfer to Missouri from Johnson County Community College next fall and enter as a junior.

An outfielder, Haines was first team All-State in 2000 and first team All-Arkansas Valley in 2001. She was also included in the Who's Who Among American High School Students. She also played volleyball and basketball for three seasons at El Dorado High. She also considered Wichita State before choosing Mizzou.

White and Haines join seven others who signed with MU during the early signing period.
