COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri tennis player Katka Sevcikova was named Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 14-20, as announced today by the Big 12 Conference. This is the first conference honor for Sevcikova, a sophomore from the Czech Republic. Teammate and doubles partner Urska Juric earned Player of the Week honors earlier in the season.

Last week Sevcikova went 2-0 in Singles play and teamed with doubles partner Juric to go 1-1 in doubles play. Sevcikova defeated Kristin Gyaki of Iowa State 6-0, 6-1 and the next day she beat Michelle Krinke of Texas 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Sevcikova and Juric defeated the Iowa State tandem of Sabrina Evers and Kristin Gyaki 8-1 on Friday. The Tigers head to the Big 12 Championships at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City this week, they will face Nebraska in the first round of the tournament on Thursday.
