Fiona Asigbee Wins Heptathlon at Mt. SAC Relays

AZUSA, Ca. - The University of Missouri women's track and field heptathletes had an outstanding day at the Mt. SAC Relays in Azusa, California. Senior co-captain Fiona Asigbee won the heptathlon in the conclusion of today's events, Asigbee also led after day one.

Asigbee began to distance herself from the other competitors today with a jump of 18 feet, 3.5 inches. Asigbee concluded the day with the javelin and 800 meters. The senior from Walford, Iowa finished the competition with a total of 5151 points, 45 points ahead of second-finisher and former Tiger Michelle Moran. Senior Abbe Ohneck finished seventh with 4904 points in a field of 26 competitors. Asigbee was the Big 12 champion in the pentathlon at the indoor Big 12 track and field championships and was an indoor All-American in the event.

Most of the Tiger track and field team will be at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas this weekend. Last week 15 Missouri track and field athletes qualified for the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio in May.
