Stevinson, Colo. - The University of Missouri men's golf squad is in sixth place following the opening two rounds of the Stevinson Invitational in Stevinson, Calif. The Tigers were extremely consistent, firing rounds of 295 and 294 on Monday for a total of 589, just five strokes out of the Top 3 and 10 strokes out of the Top 2. The round of 294 was the Tigers' lowest this spring and the lowest since their opening round of 290 at the Landfall Tradition last fall.
Junior Brandon Knaub continued to be the Tigers' most consistent competitor, shooting two rounds of 71, good for a total of 142, which put him in a three-way tie for third place and just two strokes off of the lead. The two rounds of 71 equaled his second-best round of the spring.
Despite being in a five-way tie for 20th, senior Chris Happ is still in the hunt for a title, as he shot consecutive rounds of 73 for a total of 146, just six strokes off of the lead and three strokes out of the Top 3. Junior transfer David Jenkins shot rounds of 64 and 65, putting him in a tie for 31st place, senior Cory Ewert is in a tie for 45th (77-75=152) and junior Michael Radek is in a tie for 49th (77-76=153) after the opening two rounds of the two-day event.
