Women's Swimming Heads to NCAA Championships

March 18, 2003

AUBURN, AL. -

The University of Missouri women's swimming team will be well represented at the Women's Division I Swimming & Diving Championships at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama tomorrow. Three Tigers will join the country's top swimmers in search of gold. For Sarah Lo and Andrea Nigh, this will be their first appearance at the NCAAs. Rebecca Wolfe on the other hand has been at the NCAAs before, albeit as a member of the Nebraska Cornhusker swim team in 2001. The three NCAA qualifiers are the most Head Coach Brian Hoffer has sent to the NCAAs in one season.

Lo will compete in three different individual events; the 100 breaststroke and 100 and 200 backstroke. Lo is seeded 30th in the 200 back with her school record time of 1:59.40. She's seeded 36th and 38th respectively in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.29) and 100 backstroke (55.39). Lo holds the school record in the 100 backstroke and ranks third all-time in the 100 breaststroke.

Nigh joins Lo as a multiple school record holder and event qualifier. Nigh will compete in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. She's seeded 32nd in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.20 and 41st with a time of 23.16, both are school records.

In 2001 Wolfe placed seventh in the 200 butterfly at the NCAA Championships to garner All-American recognition as a Husker. This season Wolfe returns to the NCAAs and looks to repeat her performance. She is seeded 30th with a school record time of 1:59.82 in the 200 butterfly, however her times have gotten stronger over the past month and looks to contend for All-American status again.
