Tiger Golf in Ninth After Day 1 at Birkdale Collegiate Classic

The University of Missouri men's golf team currently stands in ninth place after Day 1 at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic in Huntersville, North Carolina. After 36 holes junior Brandon Knaub is in 19th after firing rounds of 72 and 74, he is nine strokes behind current leader Ramon Bescansa of the University of North Carolina.

Knaub, a junior from Sevens Valley, Pennsylvania, leads two teammates who trail him by two strokes. Seniors Cory Ewert and Chris Happ both shot rounds of 73 and 75 to open up competition today. Junior David Jenkins stands only seven strokes behind Knaub. The Missouri golf team, currently in ninth place, is just four strokes behind fifth place Old Dominion. The University of North Carolina leads the tournament by seven strokes over second-place Virginia Tech.

Final round play takes place tomorrow, March 16th, with the Tiger looking to move up in the standings both individually and in team scoring.
