Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team has been selected to play in the 2003 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), as announced by tournament organizers late Sunday evening.
Missouri (15-13 overall) will play host to Western Illinois (21-8) Wednesday, March 19th at the Hearnes Center in a 7 p.m. game. This marks the fourth straight season under Head Coach Cindy Stein that Mizzou has qualified for a post-season tournament. The Tigers reached the second round of the WNIT in 2000, before a magical run to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2001 NCAA Tournament. Mizzou was a participant in the 2002 WNIT, and lost a one-point heartbreaker at home to Alabama (68-67).
Tickets for Wednesday's contest are available beginning Monday morning at the Mizzou Athletic Ticket Office, and are priced at $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and youth. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Hearnes Center, or charged on the phone by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS (884-PAWS in Columbia).
