On Tuesday, more than 50 members of the Mizzou Women's Connection joined several representatives of the University of Missouri Athletic Department for a luncheon to discuss Mizzou Athletics.
MU Director of Athletics Mike Alden addressed the group on the state of the Mizzou program and answer questions from those in attendance. A video showcasing the facilities that make up the Sports Park at MU was shown, followed by a video that included highlights from each of the 20 Tiger sports teams.
"This is a wonderful way for us to find out about the games and to gain knowledge and intellect about the sports," MWC member Sandi Warner said. "The speakers we've had have been wonderful and they give meat to the games, not just the dessert. It's a fun way to participate and learn about what's going on here."
The MWC is an organization designed to create awareness of and enthusiasm for Mizzou Athletics while encouraging involement of women in various departmental athletic and special events.
"The Mizzou Women's Connection provides a differenct venue for us to involve a very important constituency base for the Athletic Department, as well as the entire university," Alden said. "It's a unique way for us to promote our program both academically and athletically."
