Senior Day Send-off: Women's Swimming & Diving Beats Cyclones, 187-113

COLUMBIA, Mo. -

It was Senior Day for the Missouri Tigers women's swimming and diving team. The send-off for senior swimmers Tiffany Bohon, Katy Chandler, Ellen Cross, Chrissy Frieh, Leslie Hoh and Sarah Stowe was one to remember. The Tigers defeated conference opponent Iowa State, 187-113 to improve their season's dual record to 12-1 and their conference record to 4-0. The Tigers won 12 of the 16 events against the Cyclones.

Chandler made sure that her last home meet would be a good one. She set a new pool record in the 200 freestyle, winning the race in 1:51.80. Her time in the 200 was also a season and team high this year. Chandler later added a victory in the 500 freestyle, beating teammate Rebecca Wolfe with a time of 5:02.86.

Bohon teamed up with Sarah Lo, Liz Schoborg and Andrea Nigh to win the 200 medley relay in 1:46.68. She finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.33) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.67). Hoh finished behind Bohon in both breaststroke events, tying teammate Mariona Costa for third in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.66) and finishing fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.20).

The 400 freestyle relay team of Lindsay Palbykin, Schoborg, Cross and Nigh won their race with a time of 3:31.02. Cross added a third place in the 100 backstroke (58.80) and a fourth place in the 100 freestyle (53.66).

Frieh finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:07.99) and fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:10.78). Stowe finished third in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:37.70.

Lo added victories in both the 100 (56.94) and 200 (2:04.18) backstrokes and a second place in the 200 individual medley (2:08.46) to go with her 200 medley relay victory. Nigh won both the 50 (23.96) and 100 (52.27) freestyles. Liz Schoborg won the 100 butterfly (57.96) and Wolfe won the 200 butterfly (2:03.73) to round out the top finishers for the Tigers.

The Tiger diving team kept their hot streak going, finishing 1-3 on both boards. Freshman Joanna Lawrence finished first in the 3-meter, breaking her career high score set yesterday against Drury, with a NCAA Zone qualifying score of 280.28. Amanda Maret finished third with a score of 252.15. Maret won the 1-meter (252.23) and Lawrence finished third (240.03).

The women's team will travel to Iowa City, Iowa to take on Big 10 opponent Iowa in a nonconference dual meet on Jan. 31.
