
Cantwell Earns All-America Honors in Shot Put

Baton Rouge, La. -- Junior Christian Cantwell finished fifth in the men's shot put Saturday night at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with his toss of 63-7.50. Cantwell's toss earned him All-American honors, the fifth time he has picked up the award in his career at Missouri.
Southern Methodiist University's Janus Robberts won the event with his toss of 70-10.50. Junior Russ Bell placed 18th with a mark of 58-10.75.
In the decathlon, junior Knut Sommerfeldt placed 13th with 7,252 points. LSU's Claston Bernard won with 8,092 points.
Participating in his first NCAA Championship meet, freshman Jesse Sims did not get a mark in the men's high jump.
The Missouri men finished with four points and the women finished with three points.
