Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri Men's Basketball Coach Quin Snyder announced today that sophomore point guard Wesley Stokes has left the Tiger Basketball program, and will transfer from the University at the end of the current semester.
"Wesley has been a solid contributor for us the past two seasons," Snyder said. "We wish him the best of luck as he goes down a different path in his academic and athletic career."
Stokes, a 5-10 point guard from Long Beach, Calif., averaged 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game during the 2001-02 campaign and led the Tiger's in assists with 147. He saw action in all 36 Tiger contests while starting in 15 games last season during the Tiger's Elite Eight run.
"I appreciate the opportunity that I have had here at Missouri," Stokes said. "I will miss my teammates and coaches."
