
Northern Iowa Hands Missouri An 8-5 Loss

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Northern Iowa got three hits and three runs batted in from Alex Dvorsky to down Missouri, 8-5, in non-conference action Thursday night at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
Missouri took a 4-0 lead after one out in the first inning. Ryan Rallo singled to center field before Cody Ehlers and Lee Laskowski walked to load the bases. Jody Roughton hit the first pitch he saw over the right-center field wall to give Missouri the 4-0 lead. The home run was Roughton's eighth of the season. He has a team-high 59 RBI.
Northern Iowa answered with a four-run inning of its own in the third. After recording one out, the Panthers strung together four hits, including a two-run home run by Dvorsky, to score four runs.
The Panthers took advantage of two Missouri errors in the fourth inning to score one run and two more MU errors in the sixth frame allowed Northern Iowa to score one run and take a 6-4 lead.
Rallo hit a solo home run with two outs in the fifth to bring the Tigers within one run, 6-5.
The Tigers had a chance to tie the game in the eighth inning but could not plate a run. Northern Iowa used three hits to score two insurance runs in the top half of the ninth inning to take an 8-5 lead.
Missouri is now 23-28 while Northern Iowa, winners of its last eight games, is 28-22-1. The teams continue the non-conference series Friday at 6:30 p.m.
