COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers took the field in full pads on Thursday afternoon. As they have for the majority of the spring, the Tigers began the first half of practice with individual skill work before coming together as a team for four intense periods of 11-on-11.
The Missouri defense has stood out throughout the spring, and nothing changed on Thursday. Linebackers Sean Doyle and James Kinney have been an impressive duo. Kinney continues to make big hits. He has been solid against the run, and has done an excellent job in coverage. On one play on Thursday, wide receiver Marcus James caught a quick slant, only to have his feet taken out from under him on a jolting hit by Kinney.
Speaking of James, the junior wide receiver has had an excellent spring, as has fellow junior receiver Tay Jackson. Jackson had a super practice on Thursday, as he fights to hold on to his starting job. James is competitive as any player on the Mizzou roster and continues to make acrobatic catches each and every practice.
The Tigers will hold their second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday morning on Faurot Field beginning at 9:00 a.m.
