
Texas Tech Downs Missouri, 7-5

LUBBOCK, Texas - Missouri fell behind by a 5-0 score Friday night and suffered a 7-4 loss to No. 26 Texas Tech in the Big 12 Conference game at Dan Law Field on the campus of Texas Tech. The game featured both teams wearing uniforms from another era as Missouri wore pants styled from the 1950s while Texas Tech's uniforms were patterned after a teams in the 1920s.
Texas Tech, ranked 26th by Collegiate Baseball, scored on a run in the first inning when Jon Slack walked and stole second base. He went to third base on a passed ball before scoring on a wild pitch. The Red Raiders added another run in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. The Red Raiders used three hits and one Missouri error to plate three runs in the fourth inning as the Red Raiders took a 5-0 lead.
Missouri got on the scoreboard with two runs in the sixth inning. Jayce Tingler led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. He scored on a two-out single by Jody Roughton. Roughton's single was the first of three consecutive singles as Lee Laskowski singled to right field before Mick Weiss singled to center to score Roughton and make it 5-2.
The Tigers scored two runs in the ninth inning. Luke Cassis and Ryan Rothford reached on back-to-back singles. Cassis scored on a throwing error before Bo Davis scored on a single by Ryan Rallo.
Rallo, Roughton, Weiss and Cassis each had two hits for the Tigers.
The win was the 1,300th career victory for Texas Tech head coach Larry Hays.
Game two of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
