
Baylor Outscores Missouri, 11-8

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Baylor made the most of 13 hits, 10 walks and two hit batsmen to score 11 runs and record an 11-8 win over Missouri in Sunday's Big 12 Conference game at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
Baylor, ranked in the nation's Top 10 in each of the four polls, scored one run in the second inning after Michael Griffin led off the frame with a double. After moving to third base on an infield out, Griffin scored on a safety squeeze.
Missouri answered with four runs in its half of the inning. MU used three hits and two Baylor errors to score its four runs. Jody Roughton drove in one run with a double while Lee Laskowski plated Roughton with a single.
The Bears took advantage of three walks to score a pair of runs and make it 4-3 after their half of the third inning. BU added a run in the fourth to tie the game before scoring a run in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. Baylor used three hits and another walk to score two runs in the sixth. Mike Huggins had a two-run single in that inning to plate the runs.
Baylor scored three runs in the seventh inning after it opened the inning by getting three walks and one batter hit by a pitch. BU's Paul Richmond had a two-run single in the frame for the inning's lone hit.
Missouri scored four runs in the eighth inning. W.T. Hoover hit a one-out, pinch-hit double before Felipe Tetelboin walked. Jayce Tingler reached on an error before Roughton lined a singled down the left-field line to score Hoover and Tetelboin. Laskowski singled to right to plate Tingler and move Roughton to third base. Roughton scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Ehlers and make it 10-8.
Baylor used back-to-back hits in the ninth to put runners in scoring position before Chris Durbin scored on an infield out for an 11-8 lead.
Missouri went three up, three down in the ninth.
Roughton, Laskowski and Rallo each had two hits for MU. Roughton drove in three runs while Laskowski knocked in a pair.
The 10 walks allowed by MU pitching was a season-high mark.
Baylor improves to 19-8 overall and 8-4 in Big 12 play while Missouri is 9-13 and 2-7.
Missouri is scheduled to play Harris-Stowe (Mo.) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
