COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team continues play in the Big 12 Conference this week against:
*Missouri (13-8, 4-6 Big 12) vs. Kansas (5-19, 0-11)
*Saturday - 3 p.m., Hearnes Center, Columbia, Mo.
Come one, come all: Saturday's contest is Missouri's annual Head-to-the Hearnes promotion as the Tigers will attempt to break the all-time attendance record of 10,216. That mark was set last season against Kansas on Feb. 10, 2001.
Saturday's Foe: Kansas enters the contest having lost all 11 of its Big 12 Conference games and 13 of its last 14 overall games. Selena Scott, who scored 19 points against Missouri in the first meeting this season, averages 3.25 assists and 2.17 steals per game in addition to her 11.3 points per game. KC Hilgenkamp is the Jayhawks' leading scorer, averaging 12.0 points per game. Kristin Geoffroy and Nikki White average 5.1 and 4.7 rebounds per game, respectively. Geoffroy and White are also 1-2 in blocked shots, with 36 and 35 respective rejections.
MU-KU Series: Missouri has won the past four meetings but Kansas leads the series by a 32-27 margin. The Tigers' four-game win streak is the second longest against KU in the history of the MU program, second to a seven-game stretch from the 1983 Big 8 Tournament through the 1986 season. Missouri has won 12 of the previous 23 meetings in Columbia. In the combined 59 meetings, both teams average just over 70 points per game (MU, 70.08 and KU, 70.71). Missouri has scored 4,135 points while Kansas has scored 4,172 points. Since being named head coach, Cindy Stein-led teams are 4-3 versus Kansas.
