Columbia, Mo. - Seven University of Missouri football student-athletes have been named to the 2002 Football All-Big 12 coaches' team, as announced today by the league office.
After helping pave the way for one of the most successful offensive seasons in school history, junior tackle Rob Droege was named to the all-Big 12 first team. Droege graded out the highest among all lineman for the season, and allowed only two sacks as the Tigers rolled up 360 points on the season, which was just eight points shy of the school record set in 1997. Droege is the fourth MU offensive lineman to earn first-team All-Big 12 honors, joining former standouts Mike Morris (1997), Craig Heimburger (1998) and Rob Riti (1997 & 1998).
Three Tigers were named to the coaches' second team, including senior record-setting wide receiver Justin Gage, senior defensive lineman Keith Wright and junior center A.J. Ricker.
Senior defensive end Antwaun Bynum was named a third-team pick, while record-setting redshirt freshman quarterback Brad Smith and junior tailback Zack Abron earned honorable mention recognition.
