The Missouri Tiger women's team held on to their day 1 position and stay at 2nd after day 2 of the Minnesota Invitational. The 21 women's team trails 14 Wisconsin 545-460, followed by host Minnesota (451) and #16 Notre Dame (336).
The women's team started off day 2 with a second place in the 200 medley relay. The team of Sarah Lo, Tiffany Bohon, Liz Schoborg and Andrea Nigh finished with a time of 1:45.41, the 11th fastest time in the country this season. The "B" relay team finished in seventh place with a time of 1:48.28.
Lo had an impressive day, along with her relay finish she placed second in the 100 backstroke (56.12) and fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.62). Her time in the 100 back set a new personal best and provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships, it also is the ninth fastest time in the country this season.
Three Tigers qualified for the finals of both the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke. In the 100 breaststroke, Bohon finishing second (1:04.05), Lo fifth and Mariona Costa placing seventh with a time of 1:05.47. In the 100 butterfly, Becca Dawson finished fourth (57.37), Schoborg sixth (57.48) and Andrea Nigh finished seventh with a personal best 57.68.
Other top finishers included Amanda Morford finishing third behind Lo in the 100 backstroke (57.18). Megan Morford finished sixth in the 400 individual medley (4:27.83). Seniors Katy Chandler and Ellen Cross each finishing seventh and eighth respectively in the 200 freestyle. Chandler and Cross then teamed up with Lindsay Palbykin and Lizza Igoe to finish third in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:34.60, the country's seventh fastest time this season.
The team returns to action for the third and final day of the invite tomorrow. The start time for the meet is 10:00 a.m. for the prelims and 3:00 for the finals.
