Tyler Dunn, a senior at Alton (Ill.) High School, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Missouri starting next fall, as announced Thursday by Missouri men's golf coach Tim Robyn. Dunn has proven himself to be a standout in numerous AJGA and Junior PGA events in the past year.
"We are excited that Tyler has decided to become a Tiger," said Missouri coach Tim Robyn. "He is a good student and a likeable young man of excellent character."
Dunn was the winner of numerous Gateway PGA Jr. events the past two years and won and won the 2002 Dutch Harrison Trophy for his low stroke average during the tour. This past summer, Dunn also finished second at the AJGA Buick Jr. Open and third at the PGA Jr. Series event in Lexington, Ky.
"Tyler has proven himself capable of competing well in a variety of conditions and locations. He is a very solid player already and has tremendous potential. His fundamentals are excellent and he has plenty of distance to compete at the next level," Robyn said on the Godfrey, Ill. resident.
Dunn won at the Illinois State High School Regional Championships where he shot 67, the lowest round in the state during regional action. Coach Robyn added, "Those two rounds were impressive this fall. It is nice to see the young guys possess an ability to make a good round even better by stringing the birdies together."
