COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri and the Zimmer Radio Group have signed a radio broadcasting rights agreement for Tiger baseball. Mizzou Sports Properties, the multi-media rights holder of the University of Missouri Athletic Department, and Zimmer announced today a three-year contract to carry the 56-game regular season, as well as any Big 12 and NCAA Tournament play, in its entirety on KTGR Radio (AM-1580 "The Tiger") in Columbia.
"I am pleased that we can bring all of Mizzou's baseball games to its local fans every night on KTGR," said Mike Behymer, general manager of Mizzou Sports Properties. "We are pleased to have found a home for Tiger baseball, and thank Tony Richards and the people at KTGR for their assistance."
KTGR is an affiliate of ESPN radio. In addition to its network coverage of major sporting events, the station also has rights agreements to broadcast games involving the Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Rams, and St. Louis Blues.
"I am pleased with our increased relationship with the University of Missouri Department of Athletics, Mizzou Sports Properties, and the Tiger baseball team," said Tony Richards, KTGR director of operations. "We're excited about the baseball program joining the KTGR lineup, and look forward to a successful partnership."
Details on talent personnel, as well as the 2003 Tiger baseball schedule, will be announced in the coming weeks.
