Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri's football game at Nebraska on Oct. 12 will be televised via pay-per-view on participating cable systems in Missouri and Nebraska and nationwide to satellite TV services. This will mark the first-ever pay-per-view telecast in Tiger football history.
Big 12 Special Order Sports, Fox Sports Net's pay-per-view division, will produce and distribute the game. Retail price is $29.95. Kickoff is 11:30 AM CT from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it was not selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. Under conference TV rules, games not picked up for regular television distribution can only be televised pay-per-view.
"We're giving fans an option to watch a game that they otherwise wouldn't be able to see on television at an affordable price," said Fox Sports Net Vice President and General Manager Jack Donovan. "We want to make this game available to as many viewers as possible."
"When the game was not selected as part of the Big 12 television package, we were pleased that the University of Nebraska, University of Missouri and participating cable systems were eager to make this game available to their fans via an alternate means of distribution," said Donovan.
A list of participating cable and satellite TV systems offering the pay-per-view telecast will be announced next week. Participating programming providers will offer the telecast to their customers on a specially designated pay-per-view channel. The telecast will not pre-empt Fox Sports Net's regularly scheduled programming.
