Football Practice Report for August 21st

Aug. 21, 2002

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri football team wrapped up the 2002 fall two-a-day camp Wednesday with a pair of practices in Columbia. Both were held in shoulder pads and helmets, with the morning session coming indoors, and the afternoon taking place outdoors.

The Tigers will hold a scrimmage Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at Faurot Field. The scrimmage is open to season ticket holders, who must enter through the Southwest corner gate near field level to gain admittance.

In Wednesday's morning practice, the Tigers did a lot of situational scrimmaging. A few highlights included:

*- CB R.J. Jones nabbed an interception and returned it for a touchdown of over 40 yards down the left sideline.

*- QB Brad Smith had a solid morning practice, as he ran for a long gain on a scramble, and later had nice consecutive throws to WR Thomson Omboga and TE Ben Fredrickson.

*- Fredrickson later caught a ball from QB Kirk Farmer, who made a nice play to avoid a blitz.

*- WR Justin Gage had a big gain over the middle on a ball thrown by Smith.

*- WR Tay Jackson made a nice diving catch on a ball from Smith.
