Missouri Opens 2002 season with Black and Gold Match

The University of Missouri volleyball team will hold its Black and Gold Match at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Hearnes Center. It will be the first chance for the public to see the 2002 Tigers in action. The intersquad match will give fans an opportunity to see each of the Tiger players on the court.

Susan and Wayne Kreklow are entering their third year as head coach and associate head coach of the Tiger volleyball program. They have lead MU to a 44-18 record in their first two years at the helm.

The Tigers are coming off back-to-back 20 wins seasons and consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. Missouri returns three starters from last year's squad including All-Big 12 Team selections Lisa Morris and Christi Myers.

Missouri has been picked by the Big 12 Conference Coaches to finish third in the league. In the first USA Today/AVCA Coaches' Poll, Mizzou was ranked 34th after receiving 58 votes. The season opener for the Tigers is on the road at the Oregon State Volleyball Showcase on Aug 30-31. The first home regular season action for MU will be the Quality Inn Tiger Invitational on Sept. 13-14.
