COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri (23-23, 9-13) plays No. 25 Oklahoma State (32-15, 10-9) in the third and final game of this weekend's Big 12 Conference series Sunday at 1 p.m. at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
Last Time Out: For only the third time this season, Missouri failed to win a game after which it had led after eight innings of play as Oklahoma State used two ninth-inning home runs to record the 12-11 win on Saturday. With one out in the ninth, OSU's Jake Bollig tied the game with his third home run of the day and Rob Watson gave the Cowboys the lead one out later. Daniel Rew threw 5.1 hitless innings in relief to record the win. Jody Roughton led the Tigers with three hits and three runs batted in. Tony Vitello and Cody Ehlers each had two hits.
Big 12 Series Notes: For just the fourth time this season, Missouri has a lost Big 12 Conference series.
MU/OSU Series: The Cowboys, who have won the past seven meetings, lead 120-67.
Series Notes: OSU's Jake Bollig and Rob Watson are both red-hot. Bollig has three hits, all home runs, and is hitting .750. Watson has five hits to record a .625 average. For the Tigers, Tony Vitello is hitting .600 (3-for-5) while Jody Roughton is hitting .500 (5-for-10) with three RBI. For the third time this season, Justin James left the game with a lead only to not get a decision.
Hit Streak: Jayce Tingler reached on a bunt single Saturday to extend his hit streak to 22 games. Tingler has at least one hit in 41 of Missouri's 46 games this season.
Record Watch: The next stolen base for Jayce Tingler will tie him with Dave Silvestri (1986-88) for fourth place on MU's all-time career chart with 47 stolen bases. Tingler, who enters today's game with 46 career swipes, moved into 10th place all-time in career runs after scoring three runs in the series. Tingler is in 10th place with 120 career walks.
Senior first baseman Mick Weiss, who has 23 career homers, needs one home run to tie Mark Thiel (24, 1974-76) for 10th place in that MU all-time career chart.
