Tingler, Ehlers Earn All-Big 12 Honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri's Jayce Tingler and Cody Ehlers were second-team selections to the 2002 All-Big 12 Conference Team chosen by the league's coaches.

Tingler, a junior outfielder from Smithville, Mo., had a career-best 24-game hit streak during the season and recorded at least one hit in 44 of 51 games. He had 23 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI performances. Tingler led the Tigers in hits (74), runs scored (65), triples (4), stolen bases (13) and times hit by a pitch (11). He had a .346 batting average this past season with a career-high 34 runs batted in. Tingler was an honorable mention pick in 2001.

Ehlers, a sophomore designated hitter/pitcher from Stillwater, Okla., hit .361 with 15 doubles, nine home runs and 52 RBI. He struck out 19 batters in 12 innings of work on the pitchers' mound and recorded an 0-1 record with one save. At one point during the season, Ehlers led the Big 12 in hitting with a .461 average.

Mick Weiss, a senior first baseman from St. Peters, Mo., Jody Roughton, a junior infielder from Carthage, Mo., and Lee Laskowski, a sophomore outfielder from Clayton, Mo., were honorable mention selections. Weiss was also an honorable mention selection in 2001.

Missouri completed the 2002 season with a 24-29 overall record.
