COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri's Jody Roughton and Cody Ehlers were named first-team selections to the 2002 Austin American-Statesman All-Big 12 Conference Team.
Roughton, a junior infielder from Carthage, Mo., was named the league's top third baseman after hitting .349 this past season with team-high totals in hits (74), doubles (18) and runs batted in (60). Roughton's 60 RBI are the most a Tiger has had in one season since the 1998 campaign. Roughton, who split time between shortstop and third base this season, also hit eight home runs and led the Tigers with 25 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI contests.
Ehlers, a sophomore designated hitter/pitcher from Stillwater, Okla., hit .361 with 15 doubles, nine home runs and 52 RBI. He struck out 19 batters in 12 innings of work on the pitchers' mound and recorded an 0-1 record with one save. At one point during the season, Ehlers led the Big 12 in hitting.
Lee Laskowski, a sophomore outfielder from Clayton, Mo., was named to the second team. Laskowski hit .349 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 47 RBI.
Missouri completed the 2002 season with a 24-29 overall record.
