Columbia, Mo. - Former University of Missouri point guard Brian Grawer has rejoined the Tiger Basketball program, this time in a coaching capacity. Grawer, who became a crowd favorite as a four-time letterwinner from 1998-2001 at MU, is the team's new graduate assistant coach.
Grawer returns to Missouri after spending the previous year as an assistant coach at St. Edward's University, an NCAA Division II school located in Austin, Texas.
"I'm very pleased to have Brian back with us," said MU Head Coach Quin Snyder. "In my two years with him, I knew him to be one of the best leaders I've had the opportunity to be around. I expect Brian will be an asset to our program in a number of regards," he said.
"I'm really excited to be back where I got my start," said Grawer. "Mizzou is a special place, and I can't express how thankful I am to Coach Snyder for giving me this opportunity. I'm looking forward to working with the coaching staff and the players to build on the foundation that is in place," he said.
The St. Louis, Mo. native played in 124 games as a Tiger, and averaged 7.8 points per game as he helped lead Mizzou to NCAA Tournament appearances each of his last three seasons. He left holding school records for career three-point field goal percentage (41.9%) and career three-point field goals made (210), and now ranks 2nd and 3rd respectively. Grawer also ranks 2nd on the MU career steals list (195), 3rd in career free throw percentage (83.7%) and 8th in career assists (330).
