Two Missouri Swimmers Earn Academic All-District Honors

COLUMBIA, Mo.- Two University of Missouri swimmers were named to the Verizon Academic All-District VII At-Large teams on Thursday morning. Junior women's swimmer Tiffany Bohon of Columbia, Mo. and junior men's swimmer Radu Miclaus of Sibiu, Romania were tabbed Academic All-District and will now advance to the national ballot for a chance to earn Academic All-American status.

Bohon, a graduate of Columbia Hickman High School, has a 3.85 GPA and is majoring in Biology. Bohon had her best season in the pool at Missouri, finishing in second place in the 100 breaststroke at the 2002 Big 12 Championships in College Station, Texas in February. Bohon was also a finalist in the 200 breaststroke at the Big 12 Meet and was part of Mizzou's 200 medley relay team that broke the school record.

Miclaus owns a 3.74 GPA in International Studies. Miclaus was voted the men's team MVP after earning his first trip to the NCAA Championships in the 200 butterfly. He is the school record holder in the 200 butterfly and was the Big 12 runner-up in that event at the 2002 Big 12 Championships.

The Verizon Academic All-America men's team will be announced on June 11, 2002 while the women's team will be released on June 13. Student-athletes from the sports of gymnastics, skiing, men's volleyball, fencing, hockey, swimming, water polo, lacrosse, tennis, wrestling, golf and rifle are eligible for consideration for the at-large team.
