Missouri/Washington - Game Three

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri and Washington conclude the three-game non-conference series between the two schools with today's noon contest. Missouri is 13-16 while Washington enters the game at 12-14-1.

Last Time Out: Cody Ehlers hit a two-run home run in the 12th inning to give the Tigers a 5-3 win over Washington. Travis Wendte picked up the win after allowing just one hit in 3.2 innings of relief work. Mick Weiss had three hits for the Tigers while Brent Lacy added two hits.

Time For A New Streak: Sophomore outfielder Lee Laskowski saw his 12-game hit streak come to an end Saturday. Laskowski, who entered the game in the ninth inning, was hitless in two trips to the plate. He has hit in 25 of the Tigers' 29 games in 2002.

Game Two Gone: For the third-straight weekend, Mick Weiss has homered in game of the three-game set. Weiss hit two home runs against nationally ranked Baylor of March 23, homered in game one of the doubleheader against Texas Tech on March 31 and hit a solo shot Saturday against Washington. Weiss is hitting .455 (10-of-22) in his last six games.

Who's Hot? In this series, it's easy - Mick Weiss, who is hitting .714 (5-of-7) with one double and one home run. Right on his heels is freshman catcher Brent Lacy who has back-to-back two-hit games for a .667 (4-of-6) batting average.

The Closer: In his past four outings, Travis Wendte has one win, one save and struck out eight batters in seven innings of work. Saturday's game was Wendte's second-longest stint of the season. He threw four innings against Arkansas State on March 12.

Around the Big 12: Texas swept a doubleheader from Kansas, winning game one 8-3 before recording a 5-4 win in 11 innings. Texas Tech downed Kansas State 15-0, Nebraska edged Oklahoma 7-6 and Baylor topped Oklahoma State, 8-6, despite several rain delays. In non-conference play, Texas A&M and Texas-Pan American split a twin bill.

Next Up: Missouri plays Southwest Missouri State Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Price Cutter Park in Springfield.
