Two members of the Missouri Tiger women's tennis team have been named to the All-Big 12 Teams for the 2002 season, as voted on by the conference coaches. Sophomore Urska Juric was named to the All-Big 12 Singles Team. Juric and freshman Katka Sevcikova were also named to the All-Conference Doubles Team.
Juric finished the season with a 12-9 overall record. The doubles tandem of Juric and Sevcikova finished the year 16-6 overall. Last fall Juric and Sevcikova won the Central Region Indoors Championships.
"I'm happy for both of them, and for different reasons," MU coach Blake Starkey said. "So many players go through their entire careers without even being nominated, let alone actually making this elite group. They're both so young; I think this bodes well for our future. Now, more than anything else, I just hope their year isn't over. We have to wait a few days to see if they make NCAA's for doubles."
Missouri also had three individuals earn Academic All-Big 12 recognition. Juric, senior Caitlin Thompson and junior Kristina Olshanskaya were all named to the conference All-Academic team.
The Tigers closed out their season last Thursday as they fell to Oklahoma State 4-1 in the first round of the Big 12 Championships.
