COLUMBIA, Mo.- The 2002 Black and Gold Game takes place on Saturday, April 20 at Memorial Stadium beginning at 2:00 p.m. The game will be the final organized practice/scrimmage for the Tigers until the first freshman practice on Aug. 6.
The Black and Gold Game will consist of four 12-minute quarters with a running clock. The clock will only stop for kicks in the last two minutes of the second quarter. The game will be a pure situational scrimmage with a unique scoring system:
OFFENSE:
6 points - Touchdown
1 point - PAT
3 points - Field Goal
1 point - First Down (One first down per offensive series)
DEFENSE:
3 points - three downs and out
1 point - forced punt
4 points - forced turnover
4 points - turnover advanced into red zone or recovered in the red zone.
10 points - turnover advanced for a touchdown
The kicking game will also have a twist. On kickoffs, if the kicker puts the ball into the end zone, the offense will take possession at the 20-yard line. If the kicker fails to put the ball in the end zone, the offense will take possession at the 30-yard line.
The Tigers will be split up into two teams, the Offense vs. the Defense. The offense will be wearing Mizzou's road white uniforms. The defense will dress in the home black jerseys.
