Tiger Tennis to Host Sooners in Season Finale

April 18, 2002

The MU tennis team will host Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Green Tennis Center at Mizzou. The match will be the last opportunity to see the Tigers this year as it is the final regular season match for the Tigers before they head to the Big 12 Championships.

The Tigers are 10-10 on the season and are coming off two wins last weekend over Syracuse and Eastern Illinois. Missouri is ranked No. 65 in the latest poll and has been as high as No. 55, the best ever ranking for an MU team.

Missouri senior Caitlin Thompson will be playing in her final home match at MU.

"Saturday will be very special as Caitlin takes the court here at Missouri for the last time," Missouri Head Coach Blake Starkey said. "She has brought so much to our team and we would like nothing more than to send her out as a winner. We're hoping to see a great crowd on hand at the Green Tennis Center to see Caitlin's final match in a Tiger uniform."

Oklahoma is the No. 53 ranked team in the nation and has a record of 14-7 on the season.

The Big 12 Championships begin on April 25 at the Texas A&M Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.
