Columbia, Mo. -- The Missouri Tigers will go on the road again this weekend as the men's and women's track & field teams participate in Southern Illinois University's Saluki Spring Classic in Carbondale, Ill.
The Saluki Spring Classic is Friday and Saturday, March 22-23. The men's long jump and the women's hammer will be the only two events on Friday and begin at 4:30 p.m. The men's hammer throw will start Saturday's events at 10 a.m., and the women's javelin will conclude the meet at 3:45 p.m.
The Classic was originally a quadrangular but has grown to a larger pool of teams. Other schools participating at this weekend's meet are Northern Iowa, Iowa, UMKC, Eastern Illinois, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas and Central Michigan.

College Station Wrap-Up
The Missouri men's throwers had a record-setting day at the College Station Relays.
Junior Christian Cantwell tied Missouri's outdoor record in the shot put with his event-winning throw of 64-8. Cantwell's mark automatically qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Junior Russ Bell placed third (58-4) and senior Micah Shanks placed ninth (51-10).
Bell's winning performance in the hammer throw (204-5) sets the school record and is a provisional qualifying mark. Shanks finished second behind Bell with his throw of 199-7.
Bell also provisionally qualified in the discus with his throw of 193-4. It was a personal best for the Jefferson City, Mo., native. Cantwell placed third in the event with his mark of 180-1.
Sophomore Gary File made his outdoor season debut as well. File was seventh in the javelin with a mark of 200-11.
Juniors Fiona Asigbee and Abbe Ohneck both had personal best scores in the heptathlon, as Asigbee finished sixth with 5,016 points and Ohneck had 4,819. Kansas State senior Austra Skujyte won the gold division with 5,798 points and automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with her score. Skujyte was also the winner of the event at the 2001 College Station Multis.
In the decathlon, Knut Sommerfeldt placed fifth in the gold division with 7,050 points. Sommerfeldt came back from a 17th-place standing Thursday. Freshman Brandon Goebbert finished in sixth place in the silver division of the decathlon with 6,285 points. Goebbert had a personal best in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14-1.25.
