MU Plays Arkansas In Non-Conference Game

March 18, 2002

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri faces Arkansas in non-conference action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.

Probable Starters: Neither team has announced a probable starting pitcher.

Last Time Out: Texas recorded 11 hits and picked up a 7-2 win over the Tigers on March 17. W.T. Hoover had a pinch-hit, two-run double in the ninth inning.

MU/Arkansas Series: The matchup against Arkansas will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 1997 season when the Razorbacks won, 8-6. Missouri leads the series, 28-16-1.

Hit Men: As a team, Missouri is hitting .308. Cody Ehlers leads the regulars with a .429 batting average. Jayce Tingler is hitting .375 while Jody Roughton is hitting .360.

Who's Hot: In their last 10 games, the Tigers have four regulars hitting over .300. Cody Ehlers leads the way with his .400 batting average while Jayce Tingler (.372), Jody Roughton (.310) and Ryan Rallo (.314) also have posted lofty numbers. Chris Julo, who has started seven of MU's last 10 games, is hitting .355 with two home runs in that stretch.

Put Me In: Bo Davis could prove to be a tough man to get out of the Tigers' lineup if his initial collegiate start proves to be an indication. Davis went 2-for-4 Saturday and has five hits in nine at-bats this season.

Key Pinch Hitter: W.T. Hoover again proved his worthiness as a pinch hitter with his two-out, two-run double against Texas on March 17. Hoover went 3-of-7 in 2001 as a pinch hitter.

Mr. Relief: Freshman Travis Wendte has made the most of his past five appearances. Wendte has struck out 11 batters in 11 innings and allowed only seven hits.

Tough With Two: Junior infielder Jody Roughton is hitting .414 with two outs this season and he has driven in 10 runs when faced with that situation.

Next Up: The Tigers return to Big 12 Conference play this weekend with a three game series against nationally ranked Baylor. Action starts Friday at 6:30 p.m.
