Gulf Breeze, Fla. - The University of Missouri men's golf team shot a team score of 318 in the first round of the Emerald Coast Collegiate Tournament, which got underway today at Tiger Point Golf and Country Club in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
The Tigers stand in 8th place among the 11-team field, but are only 12 shots out of 3rd place after day one. West Florida led the field through day one, with a team score of 301.
Individually, senior Mark McBride led the way for Tim Robyn's squad, with a six-over par 78 on Monday. He is just six strokes off the pace set by round one leader David Buckley of Drake (72).
Just one stroke back of McBride was a trio of teammates, as juniors Chris Happ and Cory Ewert, along with sophomore Brandon Knaub, all shot rounds of 79 apiece and stand tied for 21st place. Ewert is playing as an individual, meaning his score cannot count toward MU's team effort.
Freshman Ben Scott shot an 82 and sophomore Mike Radek carded an 83 on Monday to round out the Tiger lineup.
Play concludes on Tuesday with 36 holes.
