Tigers Take Advantage of Weekend Weather

Feb. 4, 2002

The University of Missouri baseball team spent the weekend practicing at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field. On both days, the Tigers worked on team offense, stressing bunt as well as hit-and-run situations, and team defense, focusing on cut-offs and relays. The team showed better focus on Sunday and improvement throughout the drills, particularly on defense.

The Tigers also held an intrasquad game on Saturday.

"While no one really stood out offensively in the intrasquad, the team put forth a good effort and played well," said assistant coach Chris Smith. "Sunday was a practice day in which the guys' intensity and focus was good. We got back to basics and worked hard on the fundamentals of the game."

Missouri returns to practice Monday at 2 p.m. The site will depend on the weather.
