
Missouri Rallies For Extra-Inning Victory

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Brian Desch drove in Jon Williams to give the University of Missouri baseball team a 12-11 win in 11 innings over Southwest Missouri State Tuesday night at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
On the 11th pitch of his at bat, Williams led off the inning with a single and advanced to second base on an error. Lee Laskowski doubled down the right field line but Williams stayed at third base. Cody Ehlers was walked intentionally before Desch hit the first pitch into right field to score Williams.
MU improves to 28-20-1 overall while Southwest Missouri State falls to 30-15. After losing 5-4 in 10 innings to Oklahoma State, Missouri has won its past four extra-inning games. The Tigers have defeated Baylor, Arkansas State, Iowa State and now Southwest Missouri State in extra innings.
The game started with home runs. Ryan Howard hit a three-run shot to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. Ryan Stegall answered with a two-run shot in the first inning to make it 3-2. Ryan Rallo hit a three-run homer in the second inning to give the Tigers a 5-3 lead. The Bears took a 6-5 lead before Ehlers hit a three-run shot to make it 8-6, Missouri.
Rallo hit his second homer of the game, this time a two-run shot, in the eighth inning to tie the game at 10. Southwest Missouri State took a 11-10 lead in the 10th but Missouri tied the game when Luke Cassis walked and eventually scored on a throwing error.
Logan Dale improved to 4-3 with the win.
Williams had four hits to lead the Tigers. W.T. Hoover, Rallo, Stegall and Laskowski each had two hits.
Jayce Tingler and Stegall missed most of the game with injuries. Tingler aggravated a right wrist injury after the first inning while Stegall dislocated his left pinkie while attempting to score on a wild pitch. No timetable has been made regarding either player's return to the lineup.
The Tigers will play Eastern Kentucky in non-conference action this weekend. The teams will play Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and complete the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
