O'FALLON, Mo. -- Ryan Stegall drove in the Tigers' first two runs in the game and then recorded a save as the University of Missouri baseball team defeated Saint Louis 4-2 in a wood bat game at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in non-conference action Wednesday.
Missouri opened a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jayce Tingler and W.T. Hoover reached on back-to-back singles before Ryan Stegall doubled down the right-field line. Stegall's double, the 43rd of his career, scored both Tingler and Hoover to give the Tigers the early lead.
The Tigers plated a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Jon Williams drove in one run with a single and Wes Fewell drove in another with a bases-loaded walk.
Stegall pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his eighth save of the season. The save was Stegall's 18th in his career, putting him one shy of MU's all-time saves record of 19 held by Scott Black. Mitch Kiler (3-4) picked up the win as the Tigers used a set rotation.
Tingler stole two bases in the contest, pushing his total to 19 on the season. The 19 stolen bases tie him for fifth place on the all-time single-season charts with Dave Silvestri, who stole 19 bases in 1986. Tingler has stolen 33 bases in his career, tying him with Dick Dickinson (1952-54) for fifth place on the all-time career charts at Missouri.
The Tigers hit the road this weekend. Here's the schedule:

*Saturday, 3 p.m. at Kansas State (Fox TV)
