Men's Golf Finishes 9that Big 12 Championships

Hutchinson, Kan. __ -The University of Missouri men's golf team shot a final round 308 today and slated a score of 952 for the tournament finishing in ninth place at the 2001 Big 12 Championships on Tuesday. The tournament was held at Prairie Dunes Golf and Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
The Tiger shot their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, but could not move out the ninth position, the spot they began the third round in after two rounds yesterday. This is the second straight year the Tigers have finished ninth at the Big 12 Tournament.
Individually, junior Mark McBride led the way for MU. McBride shot a nine-over 79 in the final round for a three-round total of 234, finishing in 26th place. Baylor's Worth Williams had the overall lead going into the final round and would not relinquish the strong-hold, shooting a 71 and taking the individual title with a three-round tally of 215. He led the Bears to the team title as well as BU shot a final round 288 finishing the tournament with a team score of 894.
Tiger freshman Michael Radek made the biggest move of the day for Mizzou. He jumped from 47th place after two rounds to finish 39th after shooting a final-round score of 75. Junior Chris Happ also improved his situation on Tuesday moving from 41st to tie Radek in 39th place with a three-round total of 239.
Freshman Brandon Knaub improved throughout every round for Mizzou shooting an 83 in the first round, and 82 in the second round and a 79 in the third and final round for a total of 244, good for 51st place. Senior Tom Vogt finished the tournament in 58th place shooting a personal tournament-best 78 in the third round.
The Tigers will travel to Lansing, Michigan for their regular season finale this weekend where they will compete in the Fossum, a two-day tournament on April 28th and 29th.
