
Weiss Powers Tigers To Extra-Inning Win

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Mick Weiss hit two home runs, one each in the ninth and 10th innings, to lead the University of Missouri baseball team to a 7-6 win Sunday in 10 innings at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field in Big 12 Conference action.
Weiss, a junior from St. Peters, Mo., led off the ninth inning with a solo home run to lead the Tigers' rally that inning before hitting a one-out homer to left field to win the game for Missouri.
Missouri improves to 25-17-1 overall and 10-14 in the Big 12. Iowa State falls to 16-21-1 overall and 7-10 in league play.
The Tigers rallied from a 5-0 deficit after five innings of play.
MU loaded the bases in the fifth inning but a foul fly out ended the threat. Missouri broke the ice on the scoreboard with a run in the sixth inning. Lee Laskowski singled and moved to second base when Wes Fewell walked. He scored when Brian Desch singled to center field to make it 5-1.
In the seventh, Missouri scored another run. W.T. Hoover led off the inning with a single to center field. After Ryan Stegall walked, both runners advanced on an infield out. Hoover scored when Jon Williams grounded out to make it 5-2.
The Tigers scored one run in the eighth inning. Desch doubled and scored on a single by Hoover to make it 5-3.
Iowa State took a 6-3 lead when Brandon Cashman doubled and scored on a single by Ryan Wickham.
Missouri answered with three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Weiss and Williams led off the inning with back-to-back home runs. Laskowski singled and eventually scored on a single by Luke Cassis.
Jayce Tingler walked three times and had three hits. Hoover had two hits as did Weiss, Laskowski and Desch.
The Tigers hit the road next week. Here's the schedule:
